Los Angeles Football Club went to Seattle looking for two straight wins over the Sounders, but were stymied in a 1-1 draw on Sunday. Carlos Vela had the lone tally on the day for the black-and-gold.
So, time again for LAFC Man of the Match. The nominees, as selected by Angels on Parade staff:
- Latif Blessing: Could make a good case he should have scored one of his late chances, but the Ghanaian put in another battling two-way performance and switched mid-game from central midfield to right back as Bob Bradley made adjustments, and looked solid in both spots. Remember, until about six weeks ago he was a pure attacker.
- Tyler Miller: The LAFC GK returned to his old stomping grounds and while he conceded in the first minute, he settled down and made two key saves to keep the game level, when it looked like a shorthanded Sounders team could give LAFC the ultimate embarrassment.
- Diego Rossi: The Uruguayan didn’t score, but he set up Vela’s equalizer to show how important he is as a facilitator, and he drew the late red card on Kelvin Leerdam to give LAFC a late shot at a win.
- Carlos Vela: With his goal, Vela now has 11 goals and five assists in 10 MLS games. No player has scored as many goals to start an MLS season. His tap-in on the doorstep was the key play in the game yet again for LAFC.
