LAFC star Carlos Vela voted MLS Player of the Month for March

No surprise after a stellar opening month.

Los Angeles Football Club forward Carlos Vela has been named MLS Player of the Month for March 2019, after scoring six goals and three assists in five games as LAFC opened the season with an unbeaten 4-0-1 record. He was also named MLS Player of the Week on two occasions in March (Week 2 and Week 5).

Vela’s goal totals (now seven goals and four assists) lead the league, and he’s currently the runaway frontrunner for MLS MVP, something he’s openly professed to be striving for. At the same time, the actual season is just over seven months, so it’s far too soon to crown the MVP at this stage. But good start nonetheless.

No surprise, but Vela was also named Angels on Parade’s LAFC Player of the Month, as voted by you, the readers. It’s been a terrific spell for the Mexican superstar, and we say congrats and long may it continue.
