How to Watch Orange County SC vs. Orange County FC

U.S. Open Cup magic is here!

MLS: New York Red Bulls at Orlando City SC Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

It’s a battle of Orange County on Wednesday as USL Championship side Orange County SC face NPSL side Orange County FC in the second round of the 2019 U.S. Open Cup.

This is the first-ever meeting between the two sides, with U.S. Soccer putting out an interesting profile on the matchup that should probably be called the “Spiderman meme derby.”

At any rate, this game has plenty of motivation for both sides. Orange County FC, coached by Paul Caligiuri, are the underdogs without having to deal with travel at all, and are playing with house money. Every game they play from here on out in the Open Cup is a chance to raise their profile and maybe make some money along the way. The pressure is off them.

Orange County SC, meanwhile, are the favorites by virtue of being the professional side, but they understand the sheer amount of talent in Southern California, having been knocked out themselves in rather controversial fashion last year in their first game in the Open Cup. Truthfully, this club’s USOC history is not stellar, but they put in a run in 2017 and likely will look to make another run to at least meet an MLS opponent again this year.

I expect both sides to really go for this game, and we know anything can happen here. It should be a good game at Championship Soccer Stadium, and we’ll see which Orange County team wins the first battle of Orange County to advance to play Las Vegas Lights FC in the third round.

How to watch Orange County SC vs. Orange County FC: The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 pm PT at Orange County Great Park. If you can’t make it to the game, you can watch it on ESPN+.
