Los Angeles Football Club returned to Banc of California Stadium on Thursday for the first of a home-and-away against FC Dallas, defeating the Texans 2-0 in the first clash. Carlos Vela scored the first-half winner before Diego Rossi scored a late goal to ice the victory.
Now, it’s time to tell us who should be Man of the Match for LAFC from the game. A lot of good performances, and here are the nominees, as selected by Angels on Parade staff:
- Eduard Atuesta: Set up Vela’s goal and put on an absolute masterclass in midfield in the first half. Seemed to run out of steam in the second half, but still had a very good game.
- Latif Blessing: The Ghanaian’s versatility was on display again, as he played in midfield as well as pushed up late to dominate FC Dallas. His ability to dispossess opponents and beat them to balls remains impressive.
- Eddie Segura: One reason why FC Dallas had no shots at all through the first half and none on target all game was due to Segura’s dominant form in the back. The defender hardly put a foot wrong all night to pick up the shutout.
- Carlos Vela: Scored the winner, set up the insurance goal — just another night on a fantastic season for the superstar.
