FC Cincinnati announced on Thursday they have recalled midfielder Frankie Amaya from his loan at Orange County SC.
Amaya, 18, was on a short-term loan, said to be a month long, when it was first announced on April 17. The intention was to give him playing time before he was expected to go play for the United States at the Concacaf U-20 Championship. They may have ended the loan even earlier because FC Cincy are in a busy stretch of their schedule, they have some injury issues, and they’re on a four-game losing streak, so he may get a shot to play this week for the MLS side.
In the end, the Southern California native made two appearances for Orange County SC, one start and one off the bench, for 83 minutes. He completed all but one of his passes, and had four key passes in limited minutes, which is pretty impressive.
Orange County are back in action on Saturday as they host Phoenix Rising FC in a game that’s sure to be full of intrigue on both sides.
