Orange County SC are back in action on the road in the USL Championship Western Conference on Saturday night, this time taking on rival Phoenix Rising FC in Arizona.
OCSC are on a seven-game unbeaten run in league play, but unfortunately most of those results have been draws. It’s been the season of the draw, but in the teams’ last meeting this season Orange County won 2-1 in Irvine. Phoenix, meanwhile, have been hot lately, winning four of their last five games and shooting up to the top of the table after a slow start to the season. They’re looking to overtake New Mexico United in first place, and with an eye-popping +17 goal difference, they’re locking it down on both sides of the ball.
Orange County will miss two players, Joe Amico and Michael Seaton, due to suspensions. On the bright side, Darwin Jones and Aodhan Quinn should be available for selection after serving suspensions last week.
We know these teams have developed quite the rivalry over the last few seasons, so this should be a good one. Will OC get the better of Phoenix again, or will the home side even up the season series? We’ll find out this evening.
Tale of the Tape:
Orange County SC: 19 points (4-3-7), 10th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: +3; Last five games: D-W-D-D-D
Phoenix Rising FC: 23 points (6-2-5), 2nd place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: +17; Last five games: W-W-W-W-L
