Orange County SC are back in action on Saturday night for a 405 Derby, as they host LA Galaxy II at Orange County Great Park, looking to get back in the win column after losing their last two league games.
OC and Galaxy II are meeting for the second time this year, after the teams drew 2-2 on May 25, with LA’s Frank Lopez finding a late equalizer to split the points for the sides. With both teams sitting below the playoff line in the Western Conference, equal on points and not far behind the playoff pack, they both need wins to get into the fray and push on for a postseason berth. There’s still plenty of time in the season, but they’ll need to get results soon if they don’t want to fall behind.
There’s also bragging rights on the line here, something I’m sure Orange County will want to take. Coming off a 1-0 friendly loss to Club Tijuana on Thursday night at home, it will be interesting to see what the lineup will look like for the 405 Derby, but it sure seems like a must-win game. We’ll see which team can get the upper hand.
Tale of the Tape:
Orange County SC: 19 points (4-5-7), 12th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -2; Last five games: L-L-D-W-D
LA Galaxy II: 19 points (4-6-7), 13th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -11; Last five games: D-L-L-D-D
