Los Angeles Football Club announced on Wednesday they have loaned defender Lamar Batista to USL League One club FC Tucson, with the right to recall him at any time.

Batista, 21, signed with LAFC in the preseason following a trial and was initially sent on loan to FC Tucson sister club Phoenix Rising FC, where he made two appearances. Batista was sent with a total contingent of five LAFC players to Phoenix, but all players were subsequently recalled and it doesn’t look likely that any will return.

But Batista will have a teammate in Tucson, in goalkeeper Phillip Ejimadu, who has been a regular for FCT. Can’t guarantee anything, but it seems likely that Batista will get more reps with Tucson, perhaps as soon as Saturday when FC Tucson host Richmond Kickers.

One thing to keep in mind about the loan: Ejimadu revealed earlier this season that he trains with LAFC all week and then joins Tucson for games. It seems likely that arrangement will continue with Batista as well, which is convenient for Tucson being not that far from Los Angeles.
