Vote: LAFC Man of the Match vs. Portland Timbers

Which player was tops on a tough night?

MLS: U.S. Open Cup-Portland Timbers at LAFC Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Football Club lost 1-0 to the Portland Timbers on Wednesday, a tougher result than most because it came in the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal, knocking them out of the 2019 competition. Jeremy Ebobisse had the game’s only goal, in the final 10 minutes.

It’s always tough to reflect on the good in a loss, but it’s time to vote for the LAFC Man of the Match. The nominees, as selected by Angels on Parade staff:

  • Jordan Harvey: His misplay turned out to give the Timbers the opening, but the left back was strong throughout the night, taking on stops in defense throughout, including a couple of critical defensive plays to keep Portland off the board.
  • Diego Rossi: It wasn’t the attack’s night, but Rossi was the brightest spot, continually trying to push the pace in transition to find an opening for LAFC.
  • Pablo Sisniega: Put up four saves, three crucial stops in the first half when Portland had LAFC on the ropes. Another strong game for the goalkeeper in a narrow loss.
