Orange County SC return home after a mixed road swing, looking to turn the tide on a campaign that’s been more difficult than expected, as they host San Antonio FC on Saturday night at Orange County Great Park.
OCSC are coming off a last-minute loss to Austin Bold in Austin last week, a result we’ve seen more than once this year. Interestingly, San Antonio, also below the playoff line in the Western Conference, went out and picked up Cuban forward Frank Lopez on a loan from LA Galaxy II, and Lopez has been dynamite against Orange County this season, scoring three goals in two games.
Like Orange County, San Antonio have won one road game this season, but that was their last game, midweek against El Paso Locomotive. Lopez scored a brace in that game, so he’s likely licking his chops.
As we’ve always said, Orange County haven’t been as lucky this season but they have the pieces that should be able to get into the playoffs. Can they get three points to bolster their case for the postseason against SAFC? We’ll find out very soon.
Tale of the Tape:
Orange County SC: 22 points (5-7-7), 14th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -3; Last five games: L-W-L-L-L
San Antonio FC: 23 points (6-8-5), 11th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: 0; Last five games: W-W-D-L-D
How to Watch Orange County SC vs. San Antonio FC: The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 pm PT at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine. You can watch the stream only on ESPN+.
