Vote: LAFC Man of the Match vs. Atlanta United

Which player stood tallest in victory?

MLS: Atlanta United FC at Los Angeles FC Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Football Club bounced back from last week’s loss with a win — a wild 4-3 win, but a win nevertheless — at Banc of California Stadium on Friday. Goals from Adama Diomande, Diego Rossi, Carlos Vela and Eduard Atuesta bested Atlanta United’s two strikes and an LAFC own goal.

So with another game in the books, it’s time to decide who was the LAFC Man of the Match. The nominees, as selected by Angels on Parade staff:

  • Eduard Atuesta: Had the pick of the goals on the night and was the conductor on the field, spraying passes around the field, making timely stops on Atlanta, and being truly immense in a mostly low-key role.
  • Adama Diomande: Had the goal to kickstart the four-goal deluge for LAFC and set up the eventual winner. Dio is putting together a string of good results of late.
  • Carlos Vela: It wasn’t quite a game where he put the team on his back, but Vela’s goal and assist, not to mention his penalty drawn, were part of the team rally and kept them rolling. Remarkably, just another excellent performance in a season full of them.
