Shaft Brewer, Jr. departs LAFC

Teenager moves on to new opportunities.

Rumors had picked up recently that a player was going to depart LAFC, and on Sunday that news was made official, as Los Angeles Football Club announced they had agreed to mutually part ways with Shaft Brewer, Jr.

LAFC had originally acquired Brewer in March of 2018, in a trade from FC Dallas for a 4th round SuperDraft pick and $50,000 in General Allocation Money. He spent much of his time with LAFC on loan with Phoenix Rising of the USL.

Brewer, Jr. made four total appearances for LAFC, with one start, the loss in British Columbia against the Vancouver Whitecaps. In preseason this year it looked like he would take on more of a role with the team this year, but he just wasn’t able to break through.

He is also a US Youth International, having represented the Stars and Stripes at the U-18 and the U-20 level. Prior to playing for LAFC, he was in the RB Leipzig system and had been in the academies of FC Dallas and Sacramento Republic FC.

Brewer thanked LAFC and its fans in an instagram message, hinting that he may not be done for good “here,” whether that means LAFC specifically, or Los Angeles or the world, it’s unclear.

We at Angels on Parade wish Shaft Brewer Jr. the best of luck as he continues his career.
