Two teams struggling in the league lately will look for a vital three points as they square off on the 4th of July, with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks hosting Orange County SC on Thursday night.
Both teams are on three-game losing streaks coming in, with OCSC fresh off a brutal late loss to local rivals LA Galaxy II, and at home in Irvine. This run is Orange County’s worst of the season, and while they sit just three points out of a playoff spot at present, there’s a sense that they need to get on track ASAP, lest the season get away from them.
Colorado Springs are struggling even more than Orange County, having lost 11 out of 17 games so far and just one place off the bottom of the Western Conference.
Orange County won the first meeting between the teams this season, a 2-0 win at Orange County Great Park on April 6 led by a brace from Darwin Jones. Will OC continue that dominance over the opponent, or will a change in venues lead to a change in results? We’ll find out very soon.
Tale of the Tape:
Orange County SC: 19 points (4-6-7), 15th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -3; Last five games: L-L-L-D-W
Switchbacks FC: 14 points (4-11-2), 17th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -16; Last five games: L-L-L-W-W
