Los Angeles Football Club defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 6-1 on Saturday at Banc of California Stadium. An own goal kicked off the scoring for LAFC, but the other strikes came courtesy of Carlos Vela (2), Adama Diomande, Mark-Anthony Kaye, and Diego Rossi.
The result is LAFC’s best single-game goals performance in their short history. The six goals beats four previous games where they scored five, all on the road. This is the first game at home where they have scored more than four goals, and the second time they’ve defeated a team by five goals.
Previous high for goals scored:
- July 3, 2019: 5-1 win at Sporting Kansas City
- March 30, 2019: 5-0 win at San Jose Earthquakes
- April 21, 2018: 5-3 win at Montreal Impact
- March 10, 2018: 5-1 win at Real Salt Lake
It’s a bit of trivia, to be sure, but with 11 goals scored in a double-game week and a record-breaking win for LAFC after a surprise loss last week, this is a signal of intent that they don’t plan to let up in the weeks to come.
