Los Angeles Football Club defeated the New York Red Bulls 4-2 on Sunday at Banc of California Stadium. Goals from Jordan Harvey, Latif Blessing, Carlos Vela and Eddie Segura canceled out an own goal and a tally from Cristian Cassares.
With another great result in the books, it’s time to vote for the LAFC Man of the Match. The nominees, as selected by Angels on Parade staff:
- Latif Blessing: Scored for the second straight game and his fourth goal in league play this season, while putting in one of the most rugged midfield shifts he’ll have to in MLS against a side that presses hard. There were some hairy moments but Blessing was strong yet again.
- Jordan Harvey: Scored his first goal for the black-and-gold in league play and started the scoring on the night, while also putting in a battling shift in defense. A good showing from the beard gang.
- Eddie Segura: It’s been a pity that the Colombian had previously only scored own goals in MLS, as anyone who’s watched LAFC closely knows what a difference he’s made in the defense this year. Stepping up to get his debut goal is icing on the cake for the young center back.
- Carlos Vela: Is it possible that Vela posted two assists and a goal but still had a quiet night? He didn’t have flash but he scored the winning goal from the spot and set up two goals on free kicks. Even when it’s not free and easy he’s getting the job done.
