It’s official: With their 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday, and FC Dallas failing to win against the Montreal Impact, LAFC have officially booked their place in the 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs.
The league leaders were expected to do it, of course, but are the first team in MLS to qualify for the postseason so far, and did it with nine games to spare.
While it’s just the beginning, with the team well ahead in the Supporters’ Shield and expected to win it (not winning that title at this stage would be a colossal failure) and expected to be MLS Cup favorites this year, LAFC did take a moment to celebrate, with even Bob Bradley smiling, and it doesn’t look like a wry one, either.
Making History.

So a good moment in a good season, but there’s lots of work ahead. Best of luck to LAFC the rest of the way.
