There’s a FIFA window coming up next month, and two Los Angeles Football Club players — the newest additions, in fact — have been called up by their respective national teams.
Brian Rodriguez has been called up by Uruguay national team head coach Oscar Washington Tabarez for friendlies against Costa Rica in San Jose on September 6 and against the U.S. on September 10.

This is Rodriguez’s first call at senior level, after featuring for his country at the U-20 World Cup this summer. For those wondering why LAFC’s Diego Rossi didn’t get the call, Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani remain in the national team mix and probably aren’t quite ready to relinquish their spots with the selection.
Meanwhile, the other player signed in the summer transfer window by LAFC, Diego Palacios, has been called up to Ecuador’s national team by interim manager Jorge Célico.

Palacios has been called up before at senior level and has one cap to date. Ecuador will play Peru at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on September 5 — it’s unclear if they’ll play any other games in the window.
Don’t be surprised if more LAFC players are called up in the weeks to come for the September window. For reference, LAFC play on September 7 against Orlando City in Florida, so Rodriguez will miss that game, while it’s unclear if Palacios will be out or not. Stay tuned.
