Vote: LAFC Man of the Match vs. Toronto FC

Which player stood tallest in the draw?

MLS: Toronto FC at Los Angeles FC Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Football Club huffed and puffed and ended up drawing Toronto FC 1-1 on Saturday at The Banc. Carlos Vela scored the stoppage-time equalizer to cancel out Tsubasa Endoh’s opener for the visitors.

With another game in the books, it’s time to vote for LAFC Man of the Match. The nominees, as selected by Angels on Parade staff:

  • Latif Blessing: Another battling two-way shift for the Ghanaian, who drew the pivotal penalty deep in stoppage time to set up the equalizer. Blessing is perpetually one of the players who digs in the most when LAFC needs it.
  • Eddie Segura: Pitched in on the defending to prevent Toronto from extending their lead, and weathered a couple big changes during the game, with Steven Beitashour and Walker Zimmerman both coming out in the course of the action.
  • Carlos Vela: Yet another sign of Vela’s importance to LAFC is the number of times TFC defenders collapsed on him, sometimes a truly hilarious five or six players, while he nearly slithered free a few times. Vela has 29 goals in 28 games, and has three more games to match and beat the all-time record of 31 goals in an MLS season.
