Los Angeles Football Club defender Diego Palacios becomes the fourth player to test positive for coronavirus in recent weeks.
We know about Palacios’ positive test because it came while he was on international duty with Ecuador, with the federation on Saturday releasing the names of three players, including Palacios, who tested positive while in camp.

Palacios has been removed from camp and will be quarantined until he is recovered and/or no longer showing infection.
That means his return to LAFC will be delayed, most likely, and his availability beyond the club’s Nov. 24 playoff game against the Seattle Sounders is to be determined. We already knew he would miss the Sounders game because of the timing of the international duty, but now his availability beyond that, should LAFC advance, is in question.
And if you think about it, international duty turned out to be a total waste for him. He showed up to camp, tested positive before the first qualifier and was removed from the squad, and he’ll miss at least one MLS game to boot. You can’t project these things, but not great!
But first things first: We wish good health to Palacios and hope there are no further infections and that he makes a full and safe recovery. Get well soon.
And let this be a reminder: Wear a mask when you are in public, practice responsible social distancing, and wash your hands thoroughly on a regular basis.
