The stage is set for an intriguing playoff rematch for Los Angeles Football Club.
They finished as the No. 7 seed after a 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers on Sunday to wrap up the MLS regular season, and so they are officially drawn against the Seattle Sounders to open the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs the week of Thanksgiving at CenturyLink Field.
That’s right, these teams are on a collision course in the playoffs once more, after they faced off in the Western Conference Final last year, with the Sounders shocking LAFC 3-1 at Banc of California Stadium, after LAFC took an early lead, to book their ticket to MLS Cup, which they subsequently won.
It’s perhaps a bit disappointing these teams have to face off already in the playoffs, since both are considered contenders in their best form, but that’s how it goes. Specific date and time to be determined, but LAFC will have to get their travel arrangements ready for Seattle, and gear up for a very, very tough match against a tricky opponent in a couple weeks’ time.
