Los Angeles Football Club announced Friday they have re-signed Martin Oregel for the 2021 eMLS season.
Oregel, 23, was LAFC’s first pro gamer, as he played for the club in their inaugural eMLS campaign this year, and performed quite well. Using the handle RemiMartinn, he made the knockouts of both of the eMLS regular season events and reached the semifinal of the 2020 eMLS Cup.
And aside from that, during the coronavirus shutdown which shifted the format of eMLS and postponed the 2020 MLS season, Oregel participated in special events, including the nationally televised eMLS Tournament Special, playing alongside Adama Diomande on behalf of LAFC, and played in regular fundraiser FIFA sessions for LAFC fans, helping to raise over $10,000 to fight coronavirus through the LAFC Foundation’s Black and Gold Community Fund.
eMLS remains a pretty new property but I think this is a good move in terms of results. Oregel is a local, an accomplished player, and performed well for LAFC this year. Let’s run it back and see what he can do in Year 2! Congrats to him on the re-signing.
