Orange County SC announced this week they have re-signed forward Darwin Jones for the 2021 USL Championship season.
Jones, 28, will return for his fourth campaign with OCSC. In 2020, he scored a goal and two assists in 13 appearances, and to date in his tenure with the club he’s made 56 appearances, scoring 15 goals and seven assists.
I think this is a good move. Jones had a quiet 2020 but he had a huge season in 2019 for the club, and his versatility to play up top and out wide, acting as a scorer or a facilitator, is the kind of skillset that isn’t necessarily growing on trees.
Jones’ signing takes the OCSC roster up to 16 ahead of the 2021 season. We’re still not sure when exactly the USL Championship will resume play, of course, but the core of a team is coming together for the next campaign, and it’s great to see Jones will be a part of it.
