Local USL Championship club Orange County SC were involved in a four-part documentary series, called “Path to Glory,” that followed the quests of a group of young players to break through as professionals. Soon, you’ll be able to watch the entire series on CBS Sports Network this month.
The series tracked the likes of Aaron Cervantes, Francis Jacobs and Diego Lopez of OCSC, alongside loanees Cammy Palmer and Danny Finlayson, who spent the year in Orange County from partner club Rangers FC. Players get stints on both sides of the Atlantic, trying to make the most of an unprecedented 2020 season on top of building their fledgling careers.
The debut episode was first aired in July on ESPN2, but the full series will now air in the United States on CBS Sports Network, with the first episode airing Tuesday at 3:30 pm PT.
- Episode 2 will air Wednesday at 3:30 pm PT
- Episodes 3 & 4 will air Dec. 24 at 4:30 pm PT
Here’s the trailer for the series:
“It has been a tremendous opportunity to document for the world how our unique partnership with Rangers FC and our innovative player development strategy has already produced several successful results,” said Jeff Garner, OCSC president of business relations, in a team statement. “We are proud to display the commitment of our two clubs, our coaches, and players, as we continue to grow our dynamic pathway to professional in Southern California.”
As someone who watches a lot of soccer documentaries, I thought the first episode was quite good and left me wanting more, which is what you want out of a series like this. The twist on this series of focusing on youth players across two clubs was a good one, and I’ll definitely be tuning in for the rest of the episodes in the series. Hopefully you will do the same.
