GQ unveil Carlos Vela thirst trap photo spread

LAFC star shows off some blue steel and more.

I think it’s safe to say Carlos Vela is a handsome man. The Los Angeles Football Club star is rather press-shy, actually shy, and keeps his social media buttoned up and family friendly, but on Friday, GQ Mexico’s feature on the reigning MLS MVP, complete with photo spread, got people talking in both Mexico and the United States.

On the cover, Vela gives off some straightforward blue steel action.

Here he is pulling off a Canadian Tuxedo with aplomb.

I’m starting to think GQ’s art directors are trying to put him in ugly clothes to see if he still looks good. The second photo here, he’s basically wearing a Cleveland Browns fleece, and damn if he doesn’t look fine in it.

Ok, so this four-panel is all over the place — the black-and-white shots look amazing, the clothes look great, while the black-white-and-gold zig-zag polo also looks ridiculous, but hey, Vela still looks like a million bucks. It really just does not matter.

So in case there was any doubt, Carlos Vela is indeed a handsome man, even if he’s wearing somewhat questionable clothing. You can read his feature in GQ Mexico now.
