He breaks some news!

Carlos Vela is well-known as a shy guy, but in addition to his recent feature in GQ Mexico, the Los Angeles Football Club star was a guest on the club podcast “Shootin’ the Shot” with Jordan Harvey and Larry Freedman this week.

Vela is a funny and personable guy when he’s relaxed, and this format seems to fit him the best, similar to his discussion last year on “BSI: The Podcast.”

They talked about a lot of topics, but at the top, Vela talked about parenthood.

The forward recently announced he and his wife are expecting their second child.

Baby is coming

After Harvey tried to ask his teammate if the Velas will be having a boy or a girl this time around, Vela hesitated for a moment but then made the big reveal: “I have one boy and one girl — I am complete.”

Vela seems very excited about a sister for son Romeo, but he admitted during the coronavirus shutdown, his wife is getting a little sick of him, and his son is wearing him out.

“I promise you, it’s easier to go to training than to be here playing with my kid all day,” he admitted. If you aren’t a parent, this probably sounds harsh, but if you have kids, you surely get it.

But again, he may have to play cars with his kid all day, while his wife has to be a mom, grow a baby during a pandemic...and take care of Vela, too.

“To be fair, it’s more difficult for my wife, because she has two kids now. She said, ‘Hey, before the quarantine, I had one kid. Now I have two.’ I have to say thank you,” he said.

It really is a good listen, Vela goes over a few topics he’s discussed before, like his distaste for his Arsenal days and life in London, but there’s a lot of good stuff in here. For instance, did you know he buys his own boots online?! In an era when practically every player has a shoe deal, Vela just does his own thing.
