Continuing jersey week here at SB Nation, we turn our attention to goalkeepers, the players who perhaps get the short end of the stick most of the time when it comes to jerseys.
However, MLS has stepped up their game in recent years. While designs are universal in MLS, different teams get a couple colors to wear each season, and there’s at least an element of trying. Gone are the days when it looked like GKs had to wear bargain-bin T-shirts.
We’ll run through the designs for Los Angeles Football Club and have you vote on your favorite at the end.
With horizontal stripes the main design in 2018, there was this one of red with burned orange contrasts.
And there was this one of highlighter torso with green arms. This one shouldn’t work, but I think it looks pretty good.
And then there’s this pink and black one, black GK kits typically the most popular ones.
In 2019, the standard design was a brushstroke/camo kind of print with kits being monochrome (accept for three stripes). This one was a calming kind of blue.
This one was a fiery orange.
And maybe the boldest of all was a bright yellow/gold one.
This year, there have only been four competitive games, but we’ve seen two looks so far. The most eye-catching is this purple and neon green combination.
Sounds odd to call the blindingly bright orange jersey to be less ostentatious as the other one, but I think you can make a case.
