LAFC’s MLS is Back Tournament group stage schedule revealed

All night games! Mark your calendars.

MLS: Houston Dynamo at Los Angeles FC Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

At long last, the schedule is out for Los Angeles Football Club’s group stage games at the MLS is Back Tournament. The MLS restart event, scheduled to take place in Orlando from July 8-Aug. 11, now has a full group stage schedule and TV listings for the games.

LAFC will first play the Houston Dynamo on Monday, July 13 at 5 pm PT, that game broadcast on FS1 and TUDN.

LAFC will then play the biggest game of the group stage, against El Trafico rival LA Galaxy, on Saturday, July 18 at 7:30 pm PT. That game will be on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.

LAFC’s third and final group stage game will be Thursday, July 23 against the Portland Timbers, at 7:30 pm PT. ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes will carry that match.

The good news is that LAFC avoided the dreaded (by me, anyway) 6 am slot for games, and “on paper,” their easiest game comes first, not El Trafico. It will be nice to work up to that one and the Timbers game, which is sure to be a knockdown dragout kind of clash.

Of course, with a three-game group stage, there is no room for error and LAFC will need to be at their best throughout, lest they crash out early. But now we know the road, so mark your calendars and get ready for the return of MLS.
