It was a podium showing for Los Angeles Football Club in the 2020 eMLS Cup, as Martin “RemiMartinn” Oregel reached the semifinals and claimed a $1,250 cash prize from Sunday’s championship tournament.
Oregel began the tournament playing the play-in winner of the unqualified bracket, Columbus Crew’s “Crew96Skamzz” and beating him 2-1. He then downed Vancouver Whitecaps’ “Exraa” in the quarterfinals by a 2-1 scoreline, before losing 1-0 to eventual champion George Adamou of the New York Red Bulls in the semifinals.
The finish capped off a strong debut season in eMLS for LAFC and Oregel, as the club touted three semifinal appearances in four tourneys this season for the club and player.
Our inaugural season comes to an end with a loss to RBNY in the semis of eMLS Cup. Incredible debut from @RemiMartinn in our 1st year in the league. A top 4 finish in the biggest event. 3 out of 4 semifinals made. Thanks to all who supported all year. #LAFC eMLS Season 2 pic.twitter.com/dI2p2Om7nj

We’ll see what the future holds for the club and player on the eMLS front, but it was a good, consistent first season. Moving forward, the goal will be to grab a title or two, just like it is for any team, in real life or on FIFA.
Congrats to Martin for a good showing and a good season!
