Orange County SC have made a priority of signing promising young prospects in recent years, and have looked to make the most of their partnership with Scottish Premiership club Rangers FC, and a new documentary series will give a behind-the-scenes look at those dual processes.
ESPN2 will air the debut episode in the “Path to Glory” series Thursday at 5:30 pm PT. The series has been in the works the past six months, with a focus on six players in particular — Orange County SC youngsters Aaron Cervantes, Francis Jacobs and Diego Lopez, and Rangers prospects Cammy Palmer, Danny Finlayson and Matthew Shiels, who are on loan at OCSC this season.
Coming in a time when soccer was off for four months, it will be interesting to see what it was like to live through the coronavirus shutdown with high hopes and expectations put on hold.
The first episode will be available on ESPNFC’s YouTube channel for 48 hours after it premieres on ESPN2 Thursday at 5:30, and that will serve as a lead-in for Orange County SC’s return to action in the USL Championship, when they’ll play a closed-door match against Phoenix Rising FC at 6 pm PT on ESPN2.
