Reports circulated Monday that a Los Angeles NWSL team is on the horizon, to be announced Tuesday.
American soccer legend and Los Angeles Football Club co-owner Mia Hamm tweeted out a teaser Monday:

Grant Wahl followed up with more information, although he clarified that this bid appears to not be connected to LAFC specifically.

And the Philadelphia Enquirer’s Jonathan Tannenwald followed up with reports about the star-studded ownership roll for the club:
Names apparently on the NWSL Los Angeles ownership list so far:

Mia Hamm
Abby Wambach
Julie Foudy
Joy Fawcett
Angela Hucles
Tisha Hoch
Saskia Webber
Natalie Portman
Alexis Ohanian
It’s as-yet-unclear what the club name will be and the details associated with it, but after Meg Linehan’s previous report in The Athletic named entrepreneur Julie Uhrman as the principal owner and the team gearing up to play at Dignity Health Sports Park, there has been no indication that is incorrect. Furthermore, internet sleuthing indicates the words “Angel” and “City” could be part of the club’s name.
It appears the club will be independent from either MLS club, but again, we await details on Tuesday. For now, if you, like me, have been begging for an NWSL team in California, Los Angeles specifically, Tuesday could be a landmark day for all of us. Stay tuned.
