Orange County SC will aim to win their third game in a row and second this week when they host Las Vegas Lights FC for the first time in 2020 Saturday night.
OCSC are coming off a good 2-0 road win over San Diego Loyal on Wednesday, and remain unbeaten on the season. Because they’ve played the second-fewest games in the group, they sit behind Phoenix Rising and San Diego in the group standings, but that’s a bit of a mirage because of the imbalance of games played.
Orange County will face a new-look Las Vegas side, who fired head coach Eric Wynalda shortly before the restart of the season and have appointed Frank Yallop to see out this season. Suffice it to say, the two coaches’ approaches are considerably different, and Vegas are off to a rocky start, winless in three so far. It is a very small sample size, and they could find their rhythm yet, but with a roster stocked of players hand-picked by Wynalda, I’m not shocked Las Vegas haven’t found their footing under Yallop so far.
So we’ll see. Orange County are huge favorites coming into the match, per the bookmakers, but that’s on paper. The games that count are played out on the field, and this should be an interesting encounter.
Tale of the Tape:
Orange County SC: 8 points (2-0-2); Goal Difference: +3; Last four games: W-W-D-D
Las Vegas Lights: 1 point (0-2-1), Goal Difference: -2; Last three games: L-L-D
