Orange County SC announced Monday their postponed game on July 29 against Sacramento Republic in Sacramento has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9, still in Sacramento.
The original date was called off less than an hour before kickoff, after Sacramento’s previous opponent, LA Galaxy II, had a teamwide coronavirus outbreak, and the club and league decided to postpone the game out of an abundance of caution. That was probably the right call considering the circumstances, but it meant that Orange County’s bus trip to Sacramento was for nothing except sightseeing along the 5 (that’s a joke, by the way) there and back.
Orange County remain unbeaten on the season, riding a four-game winning streak at present, trailing only Phoenix Rising FC in the Group B standings but with Braeden Cloutier’s group holding three games in hand. That form has given OCSC the top of the power rankings for this week in the USL Championship. Right now, Sac Republic are also on a four-game winning streak, so this should be a good match for both teams.
