After suffering their first MLS regular-season defeat of the season Saturday, Los Angeles Football Club don’t have much time to dwell on it, as they are back in action Wednesday with a road clash against Real Salt Lake.
This will be the first meeting for the clubs this season. RSL are coming off the reverse result of LAFC at the weekend, a big rivalry win on the road over the Colorado Rapids. At the moment, both LAFC and RSL are on identical records in the regular season, on nine points through six games, although LAFC progressed a round further than RSL in the MLS is Back Tournament, with the Utah side bowing out to the San Jose Earthquakes in the first knockout round in Orlando.
Still, it’s not the past, it’s the present, and LAFC will be eager to turn the page on their worst performance of the season, and to the LA Galaxy. LAFC looked to be lacking rhythm, intensity and energy in the loss, and I expect they’ll renew their efforts in this game. But with lineup shuffling likely due to the loss and injuries to key players, we’ll see how this one goes.
Odds:
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, as of Monday evening, LAFC are (-127) while RSL are (+290). The odds of a draw are (+300), so the bookmakers are making LAFC enormous favorites, which is a bit surprising considering they’re coming off two losses (albeit one by penalty shootout) and will be on the road.
How to Watch:
Wednesday’s match between LAFC and RSL will be televised/streamed locally on YouTube TV and Estrella TV, and streamed in the rest of the United States on ESPN+. The broadcast is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm PT with kickoff to follow.
