Final score: LAFC 0, Sounders 3. That was another disappointing loss, you can’t really argue otherwise. Thanks for following along tonight, here’s the full recap.
82nd minute: Goal Sounders. This time Raul Ruidiaz to wrap it up.
33rd minute: Goal Sounders. Lodeiro with another penalty, wow. 2-0 hole just like that.
29th minute: Goal Sounders. Nicolas Lodeiro scores a penalty after Dejan Jakovic handles the ball. LAFC in a hole now.
LAFC go with the same group as last week, Tristan Blackmon remains out.
Seattle go with a strong XI themselves, as you’d expect.
LAFC arrested a slump of four losses in their last five matches with a 4-2 win over the Portland Timbers at home Sunday, and now turn their attention to the Sounders, who most recently crushed the San Jose Earthquakes 7-1 in San Jose.
Of course, Seattle recently put the hurt on LAFC too, with a 3-1 win back on Aug. 30. Jordan Morris scored a brace in that game and has been on fire in the local return to play, while Raul Ruidiaz remains a wily finisher that will give LAFC’s defense fits.
But consider before that Sounders win, LAFC crushed the Sounders in the first knockout game of the MLS is Back Tournament just a few weeks before that. After LAFC dominated the first two years of regular season matches between these teams, the Sounders have restored balance of late, but a win by LAFC here would be a nice bit of symmetry in terms of recent results for these adversaries. I think this game will be big for both teams, but probably a bit bigger in stakes for LAFC, who don’t want to lose another two games after the last win.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, as of Thursday evening, LAFC are (+148) while Seattle are (+150). The odds of a draw are (+280). The bookmakers peg this as a tossup, even with LAFC on the road and Seattle having handily beat them in Washington just a few weeks back.
