LAFC loans Alejandro Guido to San Diego Loyal

Player returns to hometown to get some playing time.

Los Angeles Football Club announced Tuesday they have loaned midfielder Alejandro Guido to USL Championship club San Diego Loyal FC.

The loan is expected to last for the remainder of the 2020 season, but LAFC reserve the right to recall the player before the end of the season while the recall window remains open.

The 26-year-old is in his second season with LAFC but has yet to play a minute for the club in any competition. He has dealt with injuries off and on during his tenure at the club, but with LAFC head coach Bob Bradley generally giving playing time to most of his roster, Guido returning for a second season but never playing has been something of a mystery.

He will definitely play for San Diego if he can stay healthy. The expansion team, coached by Landon Donovan, have plenty of experience on their roster but with the USL Championship playing a regionalized group-heavy schedule for the rest of this season, San Diego’s group is probably the toughest top to bottom and they’re in danger of losing touch in the playoff race. So this will be a good chance to see Guido get some playing time and see if he can find a rhythm.
