Jamal Blackman retains his place in goal for LAFC.

Here is the Galaxy lineup for this one:

On a three-game winless skid that is majorly putting their playoff prospects in doubt, LAFC are set to face another tough test, as they take on the local rivals, the LA Galaxy, in Carson on Sunday afternoon.

It’s an absolute must-win game for both teams, not only for their bragging rights in the rivalry, but because both teams have hit skids in a terrible time. LAFC dropped a home game on Wednesday, 2-1 against the Portland Timbers to make their recent form a legit losing streak. Meanwhile, the Galaxy are in worse shape, believe it or not, as they’re on an eight-game winless run, including three losses in their last three games. Most recently, they fell 2-1 at RSL on Wednesday.

LAFC will miss a slew of players once more, with Carlos Vela (quad), Tristan Blackmon (adductor), Eddie Segura (ACL), Kwadwo Opoku (knee), Erik Dueñas (ACL), Alvaro Quezada (chest) and Julian Gaines (pelvis) all listed out by the club. For the Galaxy, Jorge Villafaña (knee) and Derrick Williams (groin) will likely be questionable for this game.

Make no mistake, this game could be a turning point in either team’s season. If there is a loser, their season isn’t done, but the winner could experience a phoenix-like rise from the ashes off the back of the momentum of an El Trafico win. For LAFC, below the playoff line and losing touch altogether, this is a must-win. So go out and win the damn game!

According to our partners at DraftKings Sportsbook, as of Saturday afternoon, LAFC are (+165), the Galaxy are (+160) and a draw is (+255), so the odds make this a push, which makes sense considering the form both teams are entering with.
