LAFC’s Dueñas, Torres and Leone called up again by Mexico U-17 National Team

Homegrowns take part in another training camp.

MLS: Los Angeles FC at Portland Timbers Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

Mexico’s U-17 National Team remains busy, with another training camp taking place this week, and they continue to put the press on LAFC’s dual national homegrowns, calling up defenders Erik Dueñas and Tony Leone and forward Christian Torres once again.

The camp is another chance for the players to train, get some familiarity with the set-up, for the coaches to take a closer look at the players, and in the case of LAFC’s players, to help make the case that they should pick Mexico over the United States.

The LAFC boys are the only players called up who don’t play in Mexico at present. With no competitions, including the U-17 World Cup, scheduled, El Tri and the players, to an extent, can play the long game if they are trying to decide between national teams. Or maybe they’ve already made their minds up at this stage, which is entirely their decision to make. As always, congrats to the call-ups, and please come back home healthy.
