Orange County SC announced last week they are bringing back defender Kevin Alston for the 2021 season.
The 32-year-old originally signed with Orange County in June 2018 and this will be his fourth season at the club. At present, he’s the longest-tenured player on the roster.
Welcome back, @KA_allday12!

This will be Alston's 4th season with the club and he is our longest-serving player on the roster! #ForCounty pic.twitter.com/bM09L6QVoQ
To date, in a career that spans 12 season in MLS and the USL, Alston has made 53 appearances for Orange County SC, splitting time between left back and right back under head coach Braeden Cloutier.
After OCSC started signing teenage players at a pretty rapid clip the last couple seasons, I wondered if there would be a change in priority for the club in terms of going after trophies or primarily becoming a development zone for promising prospects. Re-signing the likes of Alston and adding other experienced players this offseason and talking to brass at the club indicates they’re still going for titles. So if you want a balance, I think that’s exactly what the club’s doing, and it’s good to see good pros like Alston sticking around for another season.
