Orange County SC announced Friday they have loaned defender Blake Malone to USL League One side Union Omaha for the 2021 season. OCSC will have the ability to recall Malone, subject to USL roster regulations.
The 19-year-old is in his second season with OCSC, but did not make a competitive appearance for the club in 2020. Prior to joining Orange County, he played for the University of North Carolina for a year and came through the Seattle Sounders academy before that.
Union Omaha was one of the unfortunate teams that happened to launch last year right as the coronavirus pandemic was slamming the world, but they did indeed play their first season in 2020, finishing 2nd in the USL League One table, so they had a great start on the field. At the same time, Malone should get some playing time and get a chance to get his feet wet at the professional level.
