Angel City FC announced their final inaugural jersey sponsor on Thursday, after making a deal with grocery store chain Sprouts, who will be featured on the back of player jerseys under the numbers.
The news says in addition to sporting the Sprouts logo, an “empowering phrase” will also be featured on the jerseys, although it’s currently unclear if said phrase will be unique to each player or change game to game.
“We are proud to welcome Sprouts to the ACFC family as our back-of-jersey sponsor and are excited to work alongside them to leverage their knowledge of health and wellness for our players, coaches and, of course, our fans,” said Julie Uhrman, Co-Founder and President of Angel City FC in a team statement. “Sprouts prioritizes healthy living and, as we are building our team with a focus on the whole athlete’s health and wellness and believe they are the perfect fit for Angel City. We can’t wait to get started!”
The deal with Sprouts is the third such deal for Angel City FC ahead of their inaugural season in 2022. The front of jersey will feature DoorDash’s logo, while the sleeve sponsor is footwear company Birdies.
As part of the deal with Sprouts, ACFC will allocate a portion of the sponsorship money to community causes, in this case nutrition education for children and food accessibility for those who need it. In addition, the club and company will team up to make community gardens at select local LA Unified School District schools, starting with Arroyo Seco Museum Science Magnet on Saturday.
Angel City FC promise they will release the official crest of the club and colors this summer. And guess what? It’s already March, so summer will be here before long!
