The 28-year-old was the third option for OCSC in 2020, at the ready behind Frederik Due and Aaron Cervantes. Due has departed in the offseason, and Cervantes has been transferred to Rangers FC, although it appears he continues to train locally while awaiting a work permit in Scotland. Orange County have signed two new goalkeepers for 2021, European veteran Patrick Rakovsky and local Abraham Romero.
Prior to his time with Orange County SC, Faundez was a member of Seattle Sounders 2. A Seattle native, his family is from Chile and he played college soccer at Bellevue College.
OCSC are up to 21 players announced on the roster for the 2021 season, and while they traditionally keep flexibility in their squad and add pieces throughout the season, I wouldn’t be shocked if they add a couple more players before the season kicks off, likely in May.
