LAFC announced Friday they have three preseason scrimmages on tap in the coming weeks. The first, on Mar. 19, will be an intrasquad scrimmage, so that kind of isn’t a totally real game.
But the other two games, on Apr. 3 and Apr. 10, will be against another team, both against the New England Revolution. Those games will be at The Banc, the first will be at 11 am PT, and the other one is TBD. These games will be closed to the public, and likely won’t have any stream, if LAFC’s past preseason game practices are anything to go by. Not surprisingly, it does not look like LAFC will host an international friendly in preseason, something they had done the past two years.
It’s unclear if LAFC will add more preseason games to their slate, although last year, they only played four preseason games against outside opponents, if my math is correct. Most teams like to play a bunch of games, LAFC seem to go more for training and less for volume of scrimmages, and with the complications of the coronavirus pandemic there may be good reason for keeping a low profile in preseason. We’ll let you know if LAFC have any more games on the preseason slate in the coming weeks.
