Orange County SC unveiled three kits ahead of their 2021 USL Championship season on Tuesday, with a 3rd kit officially joining the looks we’ve grown accustomed to in recent years.
The home kit remains an orange jersey with black shorts for the upcoming season.
The away kit will be a black jersey with black shorts, the jersey featuring plenty of orange trim on the shoulders.
The alternate 3rd kit is a blue jersey with white shorts and orange trim, said to be inspired by their partnership with Scottish champion Rangers FC.
As part of the jersey rollout, Orange County SC welcomed employees from Hoag, the healthcare organization OCSC’s jersey sponsor since June 2017, to a special event unveiling the jerseys. The club sought to highlight the heroic efforts over the past year in particular by Hoag employees during the coronavirus pandemic.
“In sports we are taught to focus on the name on the front of the jersey and not the name on the back,” said Jeff Garner, Orange County Soccer Club President of Business Operations in a team statement. “When looking back on the past year, we felt it was only right to take this opportunity to honor our partner Hoag and their employees for all they have done.”
Select Hoag employees will receive a personalized 2021 OCSC jersey and a signed ball and be honored at the home opener, May 22 at Championship Soccer Stadium, and the club vows to honor Hoag and other frontline workers throughout the 2021 season.
As part of that, for every jersey Orange County SC sells online, they will donate two tickets to Hoag healthcare workers for a home game. You can buy jerseys online here.
All in all I think these kits look sharp. OCSC has settled on a fantastic standard look with the orange and black kits, but I love that the blue kit is in play now as a look we may see a handful of times during the season. It’s a nice palate cleanser that also has the ocean blue look that is so iconic as part of Orange County.
