LAFC announced on Saturday they have signed midfielder/defender Alvaro Quezada on a one-year contract, with team options through the 2024 season.
The 22-year-old joins after being LAFC’s third-round selection in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft, at No. 68 overall, out of UC Irvine. In 56 career appearances with the Anteaters, he scored eight goals and nine assists.
A native of Lancaster, Quezada didn’t come through LAFC’s academy but is still a local guy on the roster for the black-and-gold.
Given the timing of the announcement, and LAFC potentially being down several players, I would not be surprised if Quezada is in the squad for Saturday’s showdown against the Seattle Sounders. Who knows, maybe he’ll get some real playing time in the game! Since the club is listing him as a midfielder/defender, he may need to do a job at right back, we’ll see.
Congrats to Alvaro on the signing and best of luck with the club.
