The votes are in and we have a winner for the first LAFC Player of the Month poll of the 2021 season. Midfielder Eduard Atuesta was the runaway winner for April 2021, garnering 62 percent of the vote from Angels on Parade readers.

Atuesta started in both of LAFC’s games in April, a 2-0 win over Austin FC and a 1-1 draw against the Seattle Sounders, both at Banc of California Stadium. The Colombian had the highlight play of April for the black-and-gold, scoring a 2nd minute free kick against the Sounders by cannily going under the wall.

We were also told by Bob Bradley that Atuesta is either on the cusp of or has already signed a contract extension with LAFC, which is good news indeed. Atuesta has drawn transfer interest abroad, albeit at a reported cut price, and he really is the player who stirs the drink for LAFC on the field, so to speak.

So congrats to Eduard on our first Player of the Month award and thanks to everyone who voted.
