LAFC goalkeeper Tomas Romero has been on a roll lately, and his recent play is attracting attention from around MLS.
Romero was named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 12 of the 2021 regular season after his latest performance, a 2-0 shutout win at Austin FC last Wednesday. Romero has started the last four LAFC games, notching three wins and two clean sheets in that span.
At 20 years of age, Romero has impressed so far in MLS, and may be making a run at holding onto the No. 1 spot for LAFC, although we know head coach Bob Bradley likes a goalkeeper competition and isn’t afraid to swap out ‘keepers.
Still, Romero’s insertion into the lineup has corresponded with an uptick in LAFC’s fortunes, which don’t entirely come down to him but they likely don’t hurt his prospects of getting to keep playing, either.

In addition to Romero being selected to the Team of the Week XI, LAFC defender Eddie Segura was named to the Team of the Week bench. Congrats to both guys and keep up the good work!
