LAFC’s Carlos Vela, Kim Moon-hwan named to MLS Team of the Week

LAFC have been on a roll lately, winning three in a row, and after their latest triumph, a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday at The Banc, two players — Carlos Vela and Kim Moon-hwan — were named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 13 of the 2021 regular season.

Vela scored the winner in the game, an audacious attempt from a tight angle that he rifled in after bringing the ball down with his chest. Vela has scored many a great goal with LAFC, but aesthetically, that may have been one of his very best.

He was set up on the play by Kim, who is on a roll lately at right wingback and who had another fantastic two-way game. The newcomer’s skill with the ball is phenomenal, and he had the end product to go with the flash.

MLS Player of the Week ended up being Nashville SC attacker Hany Mukhtar, who scored a hat trick in six minutes.

Congrats to Carlos and Moon, and here’s hoping the good times keep rolling for them and LAFC.
