Positive news for LAFC defender Diego Palacios’ injury

Bob Bradley gave a brief, but optimistic, update as the team prepares for Vancouver.

Anyone who saw LAFC defender Diego Palacios go down last match would be forgiven for fearing the worst. The emotion throughout the player’s face as trainers attended to him. His inability to walk off the field, despite being helped. Not to mention head coach Bob Bradley telling media post match on Sunday that the injury appeared to occur in a non-contact moment.

All signs pointed to another defender possibly having their season ended. However, we can all breathe a huge sigh of relief. Speaking to media ahead of their trip to face the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, Bradley on Thursday gave an injury update on Chiqui, saying “It’s better than we thought. He’s up and moving around.”

While he didn't delve into detail as to what exactly happened or provide an exact diagnosis, he did list Palacios as “questionable” for the upcoming match against Vancouver. Given the cautious history LAFC have had with any injury, it's likely LAFC will be without the defender Saturday. But it sounds like the worst case scenario has been averted here.

Whether he plays against Vancouver or not, I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say we're just glad its nothing serious and we look forward to seeing Palacios back out on the pitch soon.
