It’s official. After being subbed off in just the 16th minute of LAFC’s last match against the Vancouver Whitecaps, Carlos Vela has been ruled out of MLS All-Star week. The news comes with an official announcement by MLS on Monday.
Tajon Buchanan, Carles Gil, Carlos Vela and Chicharito are officially OUT of the All-Star Game on Wednesday.

No surprise with Gil, Vela and Chicharito with injuries. No word on why Buchanan is out. Interesting timing...
Vela won't be the only absence for the MLS heading into All-Star Week. For those wondering, yes, this means that he is also going to miss the MLS Skills Challenge, but there is still reason to watch! LAFC’s Diego Rossi has been named as Vela’s replacement for the event on Tuesday.
While this news isn't at all surprising considering he didn't even finish the first half of last match, it is an eyebrow raiser. Sure, this could be part of the tactics, to preserve and rest Vela as LAFC prepare for the rest of the season, ensuring the best squad as they fight for a playoff spot.
On the other hand, something has seemed off with Vela all season, and if there's an injury that's been bothering him, suddenly flaring up, it could trouble for the black-and-gold. Only time will tell, but for now, the MLS will have to face a motivated Liga MX All-Star side at The Banc on Wednesday without several key players.
