Bob Bradley tells The Cooligans why ‘Ted Lasso’ is at the end of his TV queue

The answer probably won’t surprise you.

Bob Bradley is a historic manager in Premier League history, the first American to take the reins of a club, when he managed Swansea City in 2016 for a few months.

With a fictional football manager, Ted Lasso, sweeping the American streaming waves with his eponymous series on AppleTV+, Bradley became the latest real-life manager to be asked if he watches “Ted Lasso,” by The Cooligans this week on their Fubo Sports Network show.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Bradley, now LAFC head coach, has resisted the siren call of “But it’s really good!” by all manner of people.

I have to admit, I understand Bradley’s thinking here. As the only person to really understand Lasso’s story (even if Bob actually was a football expert, not a novice in what remains the most unrealistic plot point of the entire show), I can only imagine Bradley watching in exasperation at many scenes — “Oh come on, that’s not what it’s like!” — which would probably take the bloom off the show for him.

More than anything, it’s pretty clear that Bradley isn’t ready to watch because his time in Wales didn’t go to plan, and for anyone whose career path didn’t go quite in the direction they hoped, you get it.

You can watch “The Cooligans” on Thursdays on Fubo Sports Network at 7 pm PT.
